Many of you have been in my classes for the last fifteen or eighteen years and as a result you’ve seen me grow older!┬áI had young children ages, 2, 4 and 6 when I first started teaching. Now they are all adults with lives of their own. I was a very different person back then. I was working three jobs. Two in the fitness business and one in an office setting.

Over the years, you have been very supportive and interested in my busy life. You have listened and laughed and commiserated during my years of raising teenagers . When my Mother died unexpectedly ten years ago, many of you filled a deep void with your wisdom. You watched me burn the candle at both ends taking care of my ailing Father for a year. A number of you took the time to attend my Dad’s funeral in 2011. I was very touched considering the distance that you had to travel. You have listened to my worries and offered helpful advice and for that I cannot thank you enough.

Through all of our times together, you have taught me many valuable lessons.

I consider the most important of these to be that we must always keep moving even when life gives us serious challenges. There may be times when our bodies are hurting but there is always something we can do to keep active. The fact that you are still in my classes is proof that moving is the key to lasting health.

Through your example, I have learned that it is important to speak up and be heard, and that it’s necessary to do what is in our own best interest. Basically, “if something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it!”

You have showed me that being kind is more important than being right. While it is important to speak our minds, it’s more important to be careful with our words, and sometimes we simply need to walk away from a difficult situation for our own sanity.

You have taught me that we never really know what someone is struggling with and therefore we must tread lightly when approaching others. If someone has been rude to me, it’s usually because they are carrying a burden far bigger than I could bare. We must always take the time to listen and understand before we react.

Thank you so much for all that you have shared with me. Your personal stories are inspirational and you keep me going!

Thank you for the wonderful Birthday wishes, cards and gifts. It’s a special year for me and I am so glad that you are still by my side.

Have a wonderful day and see you soon,

Beth
