storm

This was the view from my porch before leaving for work yesterday and yet so many students still showed up for classes. I am very impressed! The average age of my clientele is late sixties to early seventies, and this age group refuses to let life get in the way of their exercise!

My generation has some work to do on this topic. People tell me that it is because we are so busy with our kids that we cannot fit in working out but I would argue that it is a matter of priority. Life is hard for everyone and we have to carve out time for ourselves to exercise daily or we can end up getting sick often, and possibly injured as a result of weaknesses and imbalances in the body. It is far harder to recover from illness or injury than it is to hire a sitter or clean off the car.

When my kids were little and I had to drive them to all of their activities, I went for a fifteen minute run or walk while they were occupied or my husband and I dropped them where they needed to be and we went to catch up over coffee. While we may have missed seeing a few moments of glory during a soccer game, we were taking care of ourselves which made us better parents.

Bravo to all of us who make the time to take care of our health.

On a personal note, I had a wonderful weekend away taking care of myself. It is a bit hard to come back to reality but it was heart warming to see so many smiling students yesterday!

See you soon,

Beth
